Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2019 - 2020 school year! This is an exciting time for your child! Starting school often brings a mixture of emotions from joy to sadness, for both parents and children. The first day of school will mark one of the most important milestones in your child’s life.

We will do our best to make the transition period as smooth as possible. Every effort will be made to make this year enjoyable, and a time filled with meaningful learning and interactions. The skills we practice daily in kindergarten are the building blocks for your child’s future success in school and life.

Here at CCA, we have the privilege of acknowledging the presence of God in our world, our community, our school, and our homes. We will endeavor to be an extension of your home in this regard. We can look forward to some wonderful opportunities to see God at work in our world and in the lives of each of us.

A few notes for the school start up:

Home/School Folder

Remember to check your child’s backpack for notices in the Home Folder and return it each day!! This is your child’s “agenda” and it will be used throughout the year as a form of correspondence. Please ensure you read over what is sent home. The folder will be checked each morning for notes from home. The intent is to provide a secure and consistent way to move materials and information between home and school.

Volunteers

Cochrane Christian Academy has a policy that ALL GUESTS/VOLUNTEERS (including familiar faces) are required to check in at the school office. We welcome and encourage families to be involved. It is important to remember that while this may seem inconvenient to frequent visitors, it is the goal and responsibility of the school to create a safe learning environment. The parent volunteer program will begin in early October. A volunteer coordinator will establish a schedule in the next few weeks.

Throughout the year there will be a few opportunities to participate in combined class trips with the entire Kindergarten and whole school events. These have been highlighted on the calendar that you have received. If there are any changes to these days, we will provide advanced notice.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. You can contact me before or after school daily. The school number is 403 932 5177. My email address is avriend@rockyview.ab.ca. I will reply within 24 hours of receiving your email.

Thank you for your support and for your children. I know we will have a wonderful year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Vriend
